How to Quickly Remove Text Formatting in Gmail

There is nothing more annoying than when you're composing an email in Gmail, you go to paste some text from a PDF or website, etc and you paste in some unwanted, mismatched formatting.


There is a simple way to remedy this, but it is quite hidden in the Gmail formatting options.


Step 1 - Highlight the text you would like to format

Step 2 - Look at the bottom toolbar of your compose window and look for the T icon with a line.

If the toolbar is hidden, click the A icon.

Our Top Tip for this is to use shortcuts!


On a Mac, you need Command + \ or on a Windows machine Ctrl + \


AND there is a further option: you could use a shortcut to paste the information in plain text for a Mac; that is Command + Shift + V or on a Windows machine Ctrl + Shift + V.
