Using templates in Google Drive

The quickest way to start a Document, Slide Deck, Workbook or even a Form is to use templates in Google Drive.

There are many templates stored in Google Drive for you to choose from and you can also create organisation-branded templates.

Step 1 - Click the blue 'New' button in Google Drive.

Step 2 - Scroll down to either Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides or Google Forms.

Step 3 - Hover on the doc you would like to create or click the arrow to access the 'From template' option.

This will take you to the Template Gallery where you will see the tab for your organisational templates. We have our training options templates in here, they are branded and ready to send out.

We need to make sure we are sharing the same information with clients in the same format and of the same high quality. We always know we are sharing the most up-to-date version and we know where to find and easily edit them.

To upload a template click the 'Submit template' button and select the document you would like to upload, this will allow anyone within your organisation to find and use it. You can also categorise them.

In the template gallery, you will also see the 'General' tab which is filled with templates from Google that are ready to use. Templates such as Project proposals, Meeting notes and Onboarding notes. You just click them to get started.

For example, Google Sheets has the option to use project templates which have timeline templates, Gantt charts, project tracking and marketing templates.
