Preparing Host Controls in Google Meet When Scheduling in Google Calendar

You don't have to wait until the meeting starts to set your host controls, you can set these in Google Calendar when you are scheduling your Google Meet invite.


Step 1 - Open Google Calendar and create a new event


Step 2 - Click 'Add Google Meet video conferencing'

Step 3 - Click the gear icon (settings wheel) to open the video call options, as shown below.

Step 4 - Toggle the 'Host management' to turn it on so you can customise the host controls.

Step 5 - You can now customise your settings, and toggle on:

  • Share their screen. If you need others to be able to do this, you can switch it on.

  • Send reactions

  • Use the full set of emoji reactions

  • In meeting chat & messages, you can remove distractions by keeping chat off or make it more interactive with chat on.
