You've created a long and detailed presentation, but you just need the key points. In the past, you’d spend 20 minutes frantically scrolling through charts and bullet points. But now you can use Gemini in Google Slides to generate a summary in seconds.

We use this feature a lot post-training to send key takeaways to attendees; it is a real time saver for us.

Step 1 - Open the "Ask Gemini" Side Panel. Look for the Gemini AI (sparkle) icon in the top right-hand corner of your Google Slides screen.

Blue and purple text reads "Create stunning visuals." Bullet points list tasks with icons. Button says "Summarise this presentation."

Step 2 - You can simply ask Gemini to 'Summarise this presentation'.

Text entry box with "Summarise this presentation" typed, featuring plus and arrow icons. Note about Gemini in Workspace below.

For a better result, be more specific with your prompt, for example, 'Give me a 5-bullet executive summary of this deck. Focus on the new flavour, marketing and logistics'.

Step 3 - Once Gemini generates the summary, you don't need to copy-paste. You can click 'Insert' to automatically create a new slide at the beginning of your presentation containing the summary.

Text list with blue star: strategies for pistachio cookie development, marketing, branding, distribution, and production timeline plan.

Presentation slide titled "Presentation Summary" lists a cookie launch plan with notes on development, marketing, distribution, and team roles.
